Playing the games game..

Source: FlickrA few months ago I picked up a Sony PSP as I’ve done a lot of flying in the last year (Denver, Vegas, Puerto Rico) and while I’m sitting around bored on the flight there’s always someone having fun with one of those little buggers, so I just had to get one. I figured Id only use it for flying, but apparently I do a lot more waiting around than I thought. I bought the one that comes with Daxter and I’ve played it once or twice.. it’s not a BAD game, but it’s not interesting enough to make me feel like beating it.. it’s really just something to fight boredom.

Recently however, God of War was released for the PSP. I’ve never played any of the God of War games before, as I don’t own a PS2 or PS3, but I’ve always heard good things so I figured I’d give it a try.

Wow. I can’t remember the last time I picked up a game I couldn’t put down! All the reviews I’ve seen for this game basically say “It’s good, but not as good as the console versions” .. if that’s true then I have got to find a way to play those because I cannot express how I felt when I played this game.

It’s games like this that serve to recharge my desire to produce games. Once I beat it, I felt like I’d just drank 10 bottles of Mountain Dew, all I want to do is get neck-deep in the Torque game engine and pump out something that would pay homage to this game.

Alas, I’m a man that starts many races but ends up stopping at a donut shop. Regardless, if you have a PSP, get God of War, if you don’t have a PSP.. get one, then get God of War.
